Serpentfolk—or sekmin as they are sometimes known—once ruled an enormous Darklands empire, dismembered and dismantled with the decapitation of their god Ydersius. The urge to recover lost grandeur led to cruel genetic manipulation of their own kind, with unpredictable results. Some are born a Zyss, blessed with innate magic and telepathy. Most are Aapoph, mighty but mutated and denied their magical heritage.
