Code of Conduct Committee Overview
As our community continues to grow, it’s important that everyone understands the role and importance of the Code of Conduct Committee (CoCC), as well as how it operates. Our Code of Conduct Committee is a volunteer group of Community Leaders and Senior or Executive Managers of GG, tasked with ensuring a safe and welcoming environment for all members by investigating serious Code of Conduct violations and recommending permanent disciplinary actions when necessary.
A CoCC unanimous decision is REQUIRED for bans in our community
What is the Code of Conduct Committee?
The CoCC is responsible for addressing serious Code of Conduct complaints, which may involve recommending permanent disciplinary actions, such as bans. The goal of the committee is to ensure that all members of our community feel safe, respected, and heard.
How Does It Work?
When a complaint is serious enough (escalated by a Senior Manager or requested by a community Member), the CoCC:
- Gathers Information: The committee collects relevant information from all involved parties. This may include written reports and personal interviews if necessary.
- Conducts Interviews: In-person interviews are conducted when requested or required to gain clarity on the situation.
- Collaborative Decision-Making: The committee debates the situation to reach a true unanimous consensus. If there is disagreement, the committee errs on the side of a lesser action, though it is worth noting that full agreement has always been achieved in past decisions.
To join the COCC, you must either be a Senior Manager or a Community Ambassador with more than 1 year experience in our community, and have been endorsed by someone currently on the CoCC. There are rare exceptions on a case by case basis.
Why Does This Matter?
The CoCC ensures transparency and fairness in our community. As we continue to grow, we’ve listened to feedback about potential biases within a staff-only committee. In response, we expanded the committee to include trusted members of the community who are not staff.

Transparency and Logs
To ensure full transparency, we will maintain a dated log in our #ban-list-partial thread hosted in our community Discord server. This log will track when CoCC members join or leave the committee, allowing the community to see what decisions members were involved in. This step is part of our ongoing commitment to accountability. Please note that not all decisions by the CoCC are posted in our #partial-bans thread, only ones that pertain to wider community safety.
