  • Gamers Guild AZ Bezier Games Castles of Mad King Ludwig GTS

    Castles of Mad King Ludwig

In the tile-laying game Castles of Mad King Ludwig, players are tasked with building an amazing, extravagant castle for King Ludwig II of Bavaria...one room at a time. You see, the King loves castles, having built Neuschwanstein (the castle that inspired the Disney theme park castles) and others, but now he's commissioned you to build the biggest, best castle ever — subject, of course, to his ever-changing whims. Each player acts as a building contractor who is adding rooms to the castle he's building while also selling his services to other players. In the game, each player starts with a simple foyer. One player takes on the role of the Master Builder, and that player sets prices for a set of rooms that can be purchased by the other players, with him getting to pick from the leftovers after the other players have paid him for their rooms. When a room is added to a castle, the player who built it gains castle points based on the size and type of room constructed, as well as bonus points based on the location of the room. When a room is completed, with all entranceways leading to other rooms in the castle, the player receives one of seven special rewards. After each purchasing round, a new player becomes the Master Builder who sets prices for a new set of rooms. After several rounds, the game ends, then additional points are awarded for achieving bonus goals, having the most popular rooms, and being the most responsive to the King's demands, which change each game. Whoever ends up with the most castle points wins.

  • Gamers Guild AZ Days of Wonder Ticket to Ride: Europe - First Journey Asmodee

Ticket to Ride: Europe - First Journey

Ticket to Ride: First Journey takes the gameplay of the Ticket to Ride series and scales it down for a younger audience. In general, players collect train cards, claim routes on the map, and try to connect the cities shown on their tickets. In more detail, the game board shows a map of Europe with certain cities being connect by colored paths. Each player starts with four colored train cards in hand and two tickets; each ticket shows two cities, and you're trying to connect those two cities with a contiguous path of your trains in order to complete the ticket. On a turn, you either draw two train cards from the deck or discard train cards to claim a route between two cities; for this latter option, you must discard cards matching the color and number of spaces on that route (e.g., two yellow cards for a yellow route that's two spaces long). If you connect the two cities shown on a ticket with a path of your trains, reveal the ticket, place it face up in front of you, then draw a new ticket. (If you can't connect cities on either ticket because the paths are blocked, you can take your entire turn to discard those tickets and draw two new ones.) If you connect one of the westernmost cities (Dublin, Brest, Madrid) to one of the easternmost cities (Moscow, Rostov, Ankara) with a path of your turns, you immediately claim a special cross-continent ticket. The first player to complete six tickets wins! Alternatively, if someone has placed all twenty of their trains on the game board, then whoever has completed the most tickets wins! Ticket to Ride: First Journey features the same gameplay as the first Ticket to Ride: First Journey game, but with the players claiming track in Europe instead of in the United States. Part of Ticket to Ride series

  • Gamers Guild AZ Dux Somnium La Fleur (Pre-Order) ACD Distribution

    La Fleur

Grandeur, love, and flowers! La Fleur is a strategy board game where you take on the role of a French Rococo garden enthusiast as you build your château, host garden parties, and gain prestige to hold the greatest of all garden gatherings, the Grande Soirée. Each player begins the game as one of a multitude of characters with a château that is rather, well....plain and empty. How will you ever attract visitors to your château and build your reputation if there are no fountains to admire, no paths to wander, and, most importantly, no flowers! Each round you will send your artisans to different parts of Paris to acquire floral beauties, hire additional help, earn coins, commission new garden features for your château, and do many other things that artisans generally do. But be quick! Resources each round are limited, and the first artisan to each location gets their pick of the crème de la crème. Each round ends with a garden party, where visitors from across the globe come to shower you with prestige and opportunity. Be wary of your neighbors, though! If their château is more attractive than yours, some visitors may be more enticed to attend your neighbor’s garden party than yours. Sacrebleu! As word of the beauty of your competing châteaus spreads, more and more visitors will flock to your gardens. When one player gains enough Prestige, all players add their bonuses from their objectives and garden features, and the player with the most Prestige is declared the Host of the Grande Soirée!

You can also listen to the Tokaido soundtrack while you play. What’s Different? The Stonemaier Games version of Tokaido is completely compatible with existing expansions, and it features these updates: Our version includes an Automa solo mode, expanding the player count to 1-5 players. The solo mode will be available both in our version of the game and separately (for those who already own Tokaido). Our version is manufactured by Panda using our standards for component quality (e.g., the panorama cards will be upgraded to the same 310gsm cardstock we use for all our cards). For any components that need to integrate with existing Tokaido expansions, we’re matching the composition for full compatibility. Our version includes a revised rulebook for clarity and accessibility (the gameplay is the same). Our version includes text on some cards and the character tiles to accompany the icons (so you don’t need to reference the rulebook to decipher combinations of icons). Our version includes reference cards for each player that explain the locations. We’re just making 1 version of Tokaido, not a standard and a deluxe version.

  • Gamers Guild AZ Grand Gamers Guild Inferno (Pre-Order) ACD Distribution

    Inferno

Abandon Hope All Ye Who Enter Here In the Divine Comedy, the poet Dante Alighieri enters Hell in search of his beloved Beatrice. Guided by Virgil, he descends through the nine circles, witnessing how each sinner is eternally punished in a manner as horrifying as the sin they committed in life. Inferno is a soul management game where each player must guide sinners to their respective circles in Hell. The central board consists of two parts: one displaying all 9 circles and the soul registry, while the other represents Florence in the early 14th century, where Dante lived, with its power games and palace intrigues. Each turn consists of two phases: Inferno Phase: The player advances a soul through Hell, earning Infamy Points if they successfully guide it to its corresponding circle. Florence Phase: The player must choose between: Playing an action at a city location (adopting a street urchin, building a new level of the family tower, or inviting home an illustrious character, among others). Exposing a sinner, who is executed, and their soul is led to Hell. By doing so, the player advances on the Hell registry, which keeps track of everyone’s supplied souls. With each death, Dante takes a step closer to his descent. When he reaches the gate that will lead him to Purgatory, the game ends. The player with the most Infamy Points is declared the winner and deemed untrustworthy.

    Emberheart

The mystical island of Emberheart is home to the last dragons. They were living in harmony with the villagers until poachers from the Distant Lands arrived to capture, raid, and plunder. To keep the island safe, the Dragon Ambassador now seeks the King’s support. As one of the King’s champions, your mission is to join forces with the villagers, rescue and protect the dragons, and stand against the evil poachers. Emberheart is a quick-playing, medium-weight worker placement game for 2-4 players. As one of the King’s Champions, your task is to recruit heroes, rescue dragons and expand their preserves, train your own dragon companion, and oppose the roaming poachers. On your turn, you can either take an Aide token (granting you a unique bonus for the round), or send a party of hirelings to one of the locations on the island. The number of hirelings you send matters just as much as where you send them: the more you commit to a location, the earlier you get to choose from its limited rewards, and the less likely your opponents are to outbid you with a larger party. There are various hirelings at your disposal: Grunts are versatile but single-use, while Scouts, Rangers and Wardens are permanent, but limited to specific locations. Your Dragon Companion can also join a party of hirelings as you place them, giving them various bonuses based on how you trained it. The locations’ rewards allow you to recruit Heroes with unique abilities, rescue Dragons from the poachers’ grasp to get them to safety in matching Preserves, and launch counterattacks against the poachers. In the heat of some actions, and during the Poachers’ Raid at the end of each round, you may get burned, and advancing too far on the Flame track will take its toll at the end of the game. Rescuing Dragons, recruiting Heroes, training your Dragon Companion, and keeping your Flame low will earn you Glory at the end of the game. After five rounds, the Champion with the most Glory wins, inheriting the title of Dragon Ambassador.

    Abyss

The Abyss power is once again vacant, so the time has come to get your hands on the throne and its privileges. Use all of your cunning to win or buy votes in the Council. Recruit the most influential Lords and abuse their powers to take control of the most strategic territories. Finally, impose yourself as the only one able to rule the Abyssal people!Abyss is a game of development, combination and collection in which players try to take control of strategic locations in an underwater city. To achieve this, players must develop on three levels: first by collecting allies, then using them to recruit Lords of the Abyss, who will then grant access to different parts of the city. Players acquire cards through a draft of sorts, and the Lords of the Abyss acquired on those cards grant special powers to the cardholder — but once you use the cards to acquire a location, that power is shut off, so players need to time their land grabs well in order to put themselves in the best position for when the game ends.2-4 playersAges 14+30-60 minute play time

    Iki

Edo — what we now know today as Tokyo, Japan — was a thriving city with an estimated population of one million, half townspeople and half samurai. With a huge shopping culture, Edo's main district, Nihonbashi, was lined with shops, selling kimonos, rice, and so much more. Nihonbashi is the focus of IKI: A Game of EDO Artisans, which brings you on a journey through the famed street of old Tokyo. Hear the voices of Nihonbashi Bridge's great fish market. Meet the professionals, who carry out 700-800 different jobs. Enter the interactivity of the shoppers and vendors. Become one with the townspeople. One of the main professions in the world of Edo is the artisan. Each of the Edo artisans uses their own skill of trade to support the townspeople's lives. In this game, not only are there artisans, but street vendors, sellers at the shops, and professions unique to this time and age. Meet the puppet masters, putting on a show. Meet the ear cleaners that people would line up for. The goal of this game is to become the annual Edoite, best personifying what is known as "IKI", an ancient philosophy believed to be the ideal way of living among people in Edo. Knowing the subtleties of human nature, being refined and attractive — these are all elements of a true IKI master.

    DC Deck-Building Game: Heroes Unite

Around 2015 I played DC Deck / Bag / Pool Building Game for the first time and I've been hooked ever since. It's an extremely pure deck builder, where the only focus is optimizing your deck. It knows what it's good at and it does that really well. This is the quintessential Deck / Bag / Pool Building game, in my opinion.                                                                                 - May (Guild Service Representative)  In the DC Comics Deck-Building Game: Heroes Unite, each player takes on the role of a Super Hero such as Shazam! or Hawkman. Your Super Hero has an ability that will guide your strategy throughout the game. Each player starts with his own basic 10-card deck and draws a hand of 5 cards each turn. Power is the currency you will use to buy new, stronger cards to add to your deck. A large, central stack of cards supplies a five-card “Line-Up” from which players make their purchases. Each player will always have five face-up cards to choose from each turn, so every turn there are new options and surprises. When a player has amassed enough Power, he or she may defeat the current Super-Villain. When a Super-Villain is defeated, a new one appears and makes an Attack against each player in the game! Players can defend themselves with Defense cards like Force Field, the Helmet of Fate, or several others. In the end, the player who has accumulated the most Victory Points from the cards in his or her deck wins the game. This is the follow-up to the 2012 hit DC Comics Deck-building Game. Play Heroes United on its own, or combine it with the original for an epic battle!Number of Players: 2-5For Ages: 15+Playing Time: 30-45 min or lessMSRP: $40.00Game Box Contains:• 36 Punch Cards• 16 Vulnerability Cards• 111 Main Deck Cards• 16 Kick Cards• 12 Super-Villain Cards• 20 Weakness Cards• 7 Oversized Super Hero Cards• 211 Game Cards in total• 1 Rulebook

  • Gamers Guild AZ Brotherwise Games Empire'S End (Pre-Order) GTS

    Empire's End

You lead a grand civilization at the height of its influence, but can you save it from collapse? In Empire's End, 2-4 players compete to keep calamity at bay. Empire's End marries the intuitive and elegant mechanism of reverse-bidding with engine-building, long-term planning, and strategic depth. The result is a game with a quick tempo, abundant tension, and multiple challenging paths to victory. Players begin with a civilization at the height of its power. Play proceeds through a series of phases, varying as you progress through the game. During the Disaster phase, players face a common threat such as famine, a flood, or barbarians. The player who ends the bidding must take the disaster, which devastates one of their territories. With each disaster that befalls an empire, its people grow in wisdom and resilience. In the style of the modern classic game No Thanks, resources bid by all players will end up in the hands of the player who ultimately takes the disaster card. That player also gains a new ability, an innovation that reflects their empire's ability to adapt in the face of challenging times. Each turn, players move along a progress track that dictates whether they will face a disaster or another type of phase. Players can gain new resources during Production phases, rebuild lost territories during Industry phases, and challenge one another during Military phases. At the end of the progress track, the game is concluded and the winner is the civilization with the greatest number of victory points. Intact territories contribute points, but innovations and military successes can provide alternative ways to win.

    World Wonders

Take on the role of the great leaders of the past to build your own Ancient City. Each player will use their Gold each round to build tiles that will increase their city's economy. A city that produces more food and generates commerce brings more population. Make your city grow! There are 5 types of buildings, and each of them provides a type of resource that will make your city evolve from a simple settlement to the largest city in the world. If your buildings are completely enclosed from all sides, you've created a very well-planned city block. This will earn you a lot of points. To place new buildings to your city, you will also need a lot of roads. Adjacency with roads will allow you to place buildings further away from the map. This will reach natural resources, which in addition to other benefits, bring victory points. As important as the buildings, are its monuments and wonders tokens. This will bring you a lot of victory points, but will consume all your Gold. Be wise in choosing when and where to place it. Each monument requires buildings, roads, natural resources or even water in its adjacency to be placed. It won't be easy to fit them into your city, but the benefits will be great. If your Gold runs out, your turn is also over. Once all players have spent their Gold, a new round will begin and new buildings and roads will be available to everyone. In the end, as soon as a player reaches the maximum population limit, the leader of the best city in the ancient world will be the winner of World Wonders!
