Conquest: Yoroni - Cohort One Player Starter
Your Yoroni Cohort comes with 11 models that get you approximately 1000 pts in First Blood Tournament Play, along with 11 Ideal Cards for the 5 Ideals, a Quick Start Guide for First Blood with Welcome Guide and Army List. The 11 models in the Cohort are a Kitsune Omoyoji, 2 Oni Ayakashi, 3 Kappa Bushi, 2 Tengu Bushi and 3 Kami Ayakashi. How They Play:Yoroni warband might have smaller model count compared to another warband of the same point, but they made that up with an elite stats-line and plenty of tricks down their sleeve to even their odds. How will the Yoroni fare against them? Traditional armies bring a Command card for each Regiment and Character they muster on the field. When you draw their card from the Command Stack, you can activate that unit. Simple. The Yoroni Regiments and Characters on the other hand do not bring in Command Cards, but Ideal Cards which behave similar to Command Cards but with some key differences. First of all there are 5 Ideal Cards: Ka, representing Force, Chi representing Resistance, Kaze representing Unfettered, Sui representing Adaptability and Ku representing the Void. There are TWO key differences in how Ideal Cards Activate Regiments and Characters: a) Any Ideal Card may Activate ANY Regiment, giving the Yoroni much more flexibility on the battlefield. b) When the Ideal represented by the Card matches the IDEAL of the Unit it is activating (as described by its Army List entry), it grants that unit an additional ability that makes them perform way above their points cost. As a result Yoroni are a very flexible force for a beginner to learn the game as they can activate any unit with any card, avoiding mistakes early. However as their expertise with the Command Stack grows, Yoroni players can begin trading this flexibility for power by matching the Ideal to that of the Unit they wish to activate, drawing further power from their already elite units. Moreover, each character that you chose unlocks a certain combination of ability that further amplifies a certain chosen ideal. Bring plenty of Ka regiments into your warband and take advantage of Daimyo to further amplify their offensive power? Or you can bring multiple different ideal so that you can maintain that level of flexibility and unpredictability? These are just some of the ways you can build a Yoroni warband! Conquest: Spires - Pteraphon
One of the earliest and most successful applications of Biomancy to the art of War, the Pteraphon were originally developed by the Spires as dragon slayers. The folly of their efforts was revealed when the Elder Dragons awoke and put their efforts to shame, but the Directorate was never known for wasting resources. Refining their efforts they repurposed the suit by eliminating most of its nervous system and turning it instead into a symbiotic "suit" that grants is wearer the power of flight and enhanced senses. Of course the added neural burden of the alien musculature and sensory organs requires unsafe levels of synaptic enhancers which almost invariably leave their unfortunate pilot hosts as wretched, addicted souls. Despite this many consider this a worthy price to pay for the glory of flight and viewpoint of a god. While the bulk and offensive power of the original design was pared down, they were originally designed to combat dragons and as such remain a terrifying weapon of war against all mortal enemies. Conquest: Yoroni - Genya no Yokai
Genya no Yokai walks the path of the Ayakashi, and the world itself shudders at their step. Lacking the refinement of their counterparts, these feral behemoths make up for it in sheer power. Twisting the power and enlightenment to their own selfish needs, these raging colossi are capable of drawing all forms of energy and enlightenment into themselves, feeding their bottomless hunger and rage, making them terrifying foes who know no mercy, no weakness and offer no respite to their beleaguered foes. Greatest among the Yoroni are those who seek to emulate the path of Shuten-doji, the first of their path to walk and master the path of Enlightenment. Each of these brave souls must walk the path of the realms twice, once as a Bushi, seeking enlightenment from the noble ideas of their Path, and another as an Ayakashi, seeking enlightenment through self gratification. While none have yet managed to replicate this legendary achievement, many of the greatest among the Yoroni continue to try this lonely path. Dai Yokai are those currently walking the path of the Bushi and their martial prowess and expertise know no match. Masters of the blade and confident in their own power these enlightened paragons have been known to bring down fortress walls with a single perfect strike. Greatest among the Yoroni are those who seek to emulate the path of Shuten-doji, the first of their path to walk and master the path of Enlightenment. While none have yet managed to replicate this legendary achievement, many of the greatest among the Yoroni continue to try this lonely path.
