Superb Owl Sunday Spotlight

Hey gang! My name is Eden, and I'm the new Marketing Content Specialist. Our usual marketing expert is on vacation right now, but before he left, he mentioned something about doing a featurette on some kind of Superb Owl?? Not sure what that means, but I did put together some of my favorite Superb Owl games. Hopefully this is what he meant...

First up, I'm a big fan of Wingspan. All you birdwatchers out there will absolutely love a game about attracting birds to your wildlife preserves! Created by Elizabeth Hargrave, who is a birder herself, this game uses card-driven engine-building to gather food, lay eggs, and collect bird cards, which have stunning art by the way! The game is also in the top 50 games on Board Game Geek, so you know it's a hit. Now, the base game doesn't have any owls unfortunately, but the European Expansion does! So, this definitely has to be at the top of my Superb Owl games.

Magic: the Gathering has some fantastic owls as well, whether you're looking at Strixhaven: School of Mages or the new Lorwyn Eclipsed set. Abigale, Eloquent First-Year is a great new Orzhov commander option who gives flying, first strike, and lifelink to another creature upon entry. If you're looking to refresh an old commander for the upcoming Secrets of Strixhaven set, Breena, the Demogogue is another excellent Orzhov option who buffs your creatures when opponents attack the player with the highest life total.

Root is also a great game for some woodland vibes. Root pits woodland factions against one another to vie for control over a forest kingdom. The game is already rich with expansions and its own roleplay game system, so you'll find yourself with a ton of ways to play. To add to the experience, the Vagabond Pack adds seven new vagabond meeples to the game, including an owl called the Adventurer.

Everdell is my last suggestion, and it's a solid one to add to any collection. This is an awesome worker placement game with a multi-level board all about building a city with adorable woodland critters. Among the playable creatures in the community is the Shepherd, who is (you guessed it) an owl!

Finally, I have to give an honorable mention to Pokémon for having some really Superb Owls in game. Come on, have you seen Rowlet? Noctowl? Hoothoot? Those guys are winners for me.

I hope you enjoy these Superb Owl games! Anyway, I'm going to sign off and watch some football. I heard this year's Superbowl is going to have a really cool halftime show.
