Star Wars Shatterpoint Is Not Going Anywhere at Gamers Guild

Atomic Mass Games announced it is scaling back Star Wars Shatterpoint content, but the game and its meta are as healthy as ever. I would know, I write the meta watch emails for Marvel Crisis Protocol, Star Wars Legion, and Star Wars Shatterpoint each week. Without fail, Shatterpoint's meta has always been the easiest to find information on and write about. So, I submit for your approval that Star Wars Shatterpoint is definitively not going anywhere.

Shatterpoint fans are banding together and strengthening the community in light of the game's deprioritization, noting that it feels very similar to when X-Wing and Armada each got the boot. The shift comes in to give more attention to Legion and Crisis Protocol, two games that are great but don't seem to care much about meta team construction (at least not in my time researching them). And though I'm no expert, it seems that the Shatterpoint community spends a lot more time discussing which strike teams are most effective.

Cassian Andor, a Relevant Rebel That Needs a Response

The All the Way Squad Pack featuring Captain Cassian Andor remains at the top of the list for recommendations, with the That's Good Business Squad Pack also sitting as an underrated recommendation that assists in delivering a high damage output. Cassian Andor is actually an example of how this game is staying so healthy, since a lot of players are especially interested in finding counterplays for Cassian strike teams. There's no one silver bullet to topple his rebellious reign, but there are a lot of ways to stay competitive despite his power.

The fact that there's no one way to counter Andor is a real strength Shatterpoint has as a tabletop skirmish game. It means that there are a lot of different ways to create a compelling build, even against specific strike teams that are dominating the meta. This leaves a lot of room for creativity within the community, so there aren't just two major strike teams going at it constantly.

Communities Are Built on Hope

With this flexibility in mind, Shatterpoint stays relevant, even in the face of deprioritization. The community stays invested in how to keep playing and moving the game forward despite the release calendar leaning more heavily on Legion and Crisis Protocol.

Fans will certainly have more to look forward to this month, with new units dropping on May 22nd. The My Loyalty, My Life and Secure the Future Squad Packs feature Morgan Elsbeth and Baylan Skoll. New boxes based on Ahsoka are sure to garner some excitement from the community.

Shatterpoint has a lot of opportunities to grow, and if the community stays strong, Atomic Mass Games will see the care that remains and keep Shatterpoint alive too.
