Gamers Guild Honors Veterans Day

Veterans Day is a time for remembrance, but it should also be a time for reflection.

Our shelves are filled with games that explore the strategy and spectacle of war. But those who have lived it know that real conflict is never glorious, and it never truly ends when the smoke clears. The pain of loss, the stress of reintegration, and the search for peace are struggles that many carry silently. That’s why this day is about more than gratitude it’s about understanding, empathy, and creating space for healing.

As a veteran-owned business, we at Gamers Guild understand that while many people find work in our armed services rewarding, strength building, and a source of long lasting bonds, it can also leave behind invisible scars. Not every fight happens on a battlefield and some take place quietly within, long after the last mission ends. With this in mind, and as part of ongoing advocacy for those with disabilities or who are not neurotypical, we're pleased to support U.S. VETS.

As the largest nonprofit on the front lines of ending veteran homelessness, U.S. VETS serves more than 11,000 veterans and their families every year, providing housing, mental health care, career programs, and essential wraparound services. Locally, U.S. VETS Phoenix has helped more than 10,000 veterans since 2001, restoring independence and dignity through housing, counseling, and case management.

This week, we’re collecting home goods for U.S. VETS’ Move-Out Boxes as part of our Strategic Reserves campaign. These boxes are given to veterans transitioning from supportive housing into homes of their own, a moment that can be both joyful and overwhelming. According to U.S. VETS manager Krista Titus, Move-Out Boxes help create a sense of stability and belonging for those who have rarely known either. You can support this effort by donating cleaning supplies, linens, socks, surge protectors, or other essentials. Basically anything you might give a sibling moving into their first apartment.

Donations will be accepted at both Gamers Guild locations through November 12. If you prefer to give directly, consider supporting U.S. VETS online at https://usvets.org/donate/.

If you are a veteran facing challenges, please know that your service does not define your worth, and seeking help is not weakness. Community is built on connection, and at Gamers Guild, we’re proud to be part of a community that values care as much as courage.

Both Gamers Guild locations will be open on Tuesday, November 11, with regular hours. You are always welcome here; to play, to rest, and to know that you belong.
