Buying and Selling TCG Singles FAQ
For any questions you have that are not answered in this FAQ, please feel free to reach out to our TCG Department via email at cards@gamersguildaz.com.
Q: Why do I need to submit a buylist?
A: A buylist is required for all card trade-ins. Buylists help us maintain consistency, accurately manage our inventory, and improve our processes. Submitting a buylist allows us to quickly and efficiently process your trade-in and get you paid faster!
Q: What are your standard buy rates?
A: Our buylist rates are pre-set based on the current TCGPlayer Market price of the card(s) you are looking to trade in. Our buy rates scale with the value of the card and are listed below:
- TCG Single with a market price between $1.00 - $2.99:
- 20% cash / 30% credit
- TCG Single with a market price between $3.00 - $9.99:
- 35% cash / 50% credit
- TCG Single with a market price between $10.00 - $49.99:
- 45% cash / 60% credit
- TCG Single with a market price between $50.00 - $99.99:
- 50% cash / 65% credit
- TCG Single with a market price $100.00 or higher:
- 55% cash / 70% credit
Q: Do I need to put the cards I sell in any certain order?
A: Yes, please bring your cards unsleeved, and in the order shown in your buylist to speed up the process.
Q: Is the offer on the buylist always accurate?
A: Our buylist percentages are based on TCGplayer Market Price.* In some cases, Market Price data may be outdated or inaccurate. We may conduct additional research to establish fair value. This research may include:
- Reviewing lowest active listings
- Checking recent completed sales
- Analyzing market price trends
- Referencing eBay or other market data
*Prices shown in the buylist are an estimate. A final offer will be provided by our staff.
Q: Will you buy ANY trading cards?
A: We will buy most TCG products from games that we currently carry and sell. Our minimum threshold for a trading card to be available for submission through our buylist software is a market price of $1.00 or greater. All other cards would fall under our bulk purchasing.
Q: Why was my buy rejected or declined?
A: We reserve the right to decline any card or buylist submission. Reasons may include (but are not limited to):
- Overstock Cards: We already have sufficient copies in stock.
- Card Printings: Certain promos, oversized cards, art cards, certain sets, or non-tournament-legal printings may not be accepted.
- Playability or Demand: Bulk or low-demand cards may not be purchased.
- High-Risk Cards: Some cards may be too volatile in price or prone to counterfeiting.
- Verification: Cards that cannot be verified for set, edition, or language.
- Foreign Language Cards: Unless specifically listed in our buylist system, foreign language cards are purchased at damaged price rates regardless of condition.
Q: If the TCG employee does not arrive until 2:00 PM, can I turn in my buylist before that time?
A: Yes, you can drop off buylists anytime during store hours with one of our Guild Service Representatives at the front counter. We will process the buy starting at 2:00 PM when the staff member arrives.
Q: Can I pick up my orders that are ready before 2:00 PM?
A: Yes! Orders can be picked up before 2:00pm. Just check in with one of our Guild Service Representatives at the front registers and they will get you taken care of.
Q: Why is the price that I am offered different from the price at the time of buylist submission?
A: The offer you see when submitting a buylist is an estimate of the values of the cards in the condition they were submitted in. Our staff review the estimates, review other details such as the market volatility, actual condition compared to what was submitted in the buylist, and other sales data to establish a fair offer, which may be different than the estimate shown in the buylist.
Please let the staff member know if you have any questions about this as you are interacting with them.
Q: I’m only selling a few cards, do I need to make a buylist?
A: We always recommend that you submit a buylist ahead of time. If you have less than 10 cards, the store associate can build the buylist for you given they have the time available at that moment.
Q: My card is worth 1 million dollars. Why won’t you buy it?
A: Cards can have various reasons for being declined. In this case, we would do a cost/benefit analysis for the specific card, taking into account factors such as desirability, length of time it would take for us to sell the single, likelihood that it is a counterfeit card, and would either decline to purchase, or provide a tailored offer depending on that information.
Q: What TCG’s do you sell singles for?
A: Most of the games we buy singles for have buylist software support to follow the same submission process for each game. The games we currently sell singles for are all listed on our website, but the current list of games we buy singles for are:
- Magic: The Gathering
- Pokémon
- Dragon Ball Super
- Flesh and Blood
- MetaZoo Singles
- Digimon
- My Hero Academia
- One Piece
- Shadowverse Evolve
- Grand Archive
- Lorcana
- Dragon Ball Super: Fusion World
- Star Wars: Unlimited
- Sorcery: Contested Realm
- Gundam TCG
Q: Why can’t I sell my cards to you during set release?
A: Gamers Guild refrains from buying cards from newly released sets for the first 2 weeks after release to ensure we give the market data for the game time to stabilize. This protects our business and allows us to provide accurate estimates on card prices rather than offer what feels like a below-average amount to meet the same effect.
Q: Can I mail my cards in to sell?
A: We do not currently offer online buylist services, but plan to accommodate this in the near future!
Q: Do you buy graded cards?
A: We do not buy many graded cards at this time. Occasionally offers will be made on graded cards but they require additional managerial approvals and are handled at the discrepancy of the TCG employee working that evening. If you would like to check before bringing your cards to the store, you are welcome to email our team at cards@gamersguildaz.com with any questions!
Q: Do you buy sealed products?
A: Yes we do buy sealed product! Please understand we buy sealed on a case by case basis. These buys require additional managerial approval, and it is not guaranteed that we will make an offer on sealed product. The current rates we offer as a standard are:
- 80% of current market price in store credit
- 65% of current market price in cash
