Wondrous Creatures is a worker placement game of magical creatures and ability synergies. Each player begins with a captain with their own ability, as well as a hand of creature cards they'll seek to acquire over the course of gameplay. Players travel across the realm, placing workers to acquire resources, eggs, and creatures that offer their own abilities to lend to the players' strategies. The goal of the game is to earn the most victory points.
Prioritize the trophy goals first, especially if you'll be the first to claim it. The victory points for completing those goals will always be worthwhile. The trophy goals will be revealed from the start of the game, so you can tailor your strategy toward achieving them very early on.
Place your workers strategically. Wherever you put your workers will determine the eggs and resources you can collect. Whenever you refresh your board, you'll want to place your workers on the most desirable spaces possible as early as you can. Maximize your plays and ensure that you have the nets necessary to collect any eggs you can reach as well. Think in terms of what your opponents are seeking as well. Any play could make your strategy or break your opponents'.
