Have you ever wanted to build your own lunar colony, then watch all of its citizens slowly perish? If so, you'll love Moon Colony Bloodbath, an engine-building, engine-losing game for up to five players. Create a fully functioning colony on the moon, and do your best to save all its citizens.
In Moon Colony Bloodbath, you attempt to keep your lunar colony safe from threats to its citizens. Over the course of the game, you'll amass more citizens, construct buildings, harvest crops, and earn money. The buildings you choose offer buffs to your basic actions: restock, mine, build, research, and farm.
So far, so Terraforming Mars, right? Not quite. The kicker is that you don't get to choose your actions! A shared event deck dictates the actions you can take each turn, with each player taking that action simultaneously. The shared deck grows over the course of gameplay, with Trouble cards and buildings adding more events and even character-based perk cards to the shared deck.
When Trouble cards add events to the deck, you'll want to keep a protective eye on your citizens. Though not too bad at first, they ramp up in stakes over the course of the game. These events are made to thin out your population, hence the "Bloodbath" part of the title. Some of these are avoidable by sacrificing other resources, but some aren't.
The endgame is triggered when one player's moon colony is entirely eradicated, at which point, the player with the most citizens left standing wins!
Buildings are among the best ways to stay in the game. Every building you construct has a number of citizens associated with it in the upper righthand corner. While these citizens are not added to your population in the form of chips, you may lose buildings in the place of citizens when you don't have enough in your population to stay in the game.
Now, you've got a chaotic, ever-changing lunar landscape and a game full of dangerous robots and even more dangerous events. Find out if your colony can survive the bloodbath unscathed or if yours succumbs to the dangers of life in space!
