Community Update - Phoenix-Area Immigration Enforcement (ICE) Concerns

  • , by Ben Blythe
  • 3 min reading time

Over the past few weeks, many people in our community have raised concerns about ICE activity in the Phoenix area, and there have been confirmed contacts in the greater valley over the last day or two. We take that seriously.

Gamers Guild prepared an internal agency visit / “know your rights” protocol last year, and we are actively refreshing it now, including manager training and location readiness, so our team can respond in a consistent, calm, and lawful way if ICE (or any agency) visits one of our locations.

What we can share publicly
  • We do not ask for, record, or track the immigration status of our guests.
  • Our locations include public customer areas and non-public areas (employee-only and Reservation/Members Only Restricted spaces). Public customer areas are open to the public. Non-public areas are not.
  • If any government agency requests access, information, or documents, we will follow the law and require the appropriate legal documentation for anything beyond normal public access. We also route these interactions through leadership so front-line staff are not put in the middle.

What we won’t do is use public channels to speculate about enforcement activity, or to share operational details about internal procedures. Our goal is to protect our guests, protect our staff, and keep our spaces stable and welcoming.

If you’re feeling anxious, we encourage you to review general “Know Your Rights” information from reputable organizations and to speak with an attorney for advice specific to your situation. The resources below are informational, not legal advice:
