Motor City
Motor City is a strategic roll-and-write game about running an auto plant in the heyday of Detroit. In Motor City, you have two player sheets, each with multiple areas. These areas are represented by tracks that you will mark off as you make progress. Many of the tracks are interconnected with other elements in the game, giving you bonuses along the way and opportunities to unlock more points. Advancing on all of these tracks offers various amounts of points, advancements, and bonuses. The game lasts eight rounds. Each round, roll colored dice based on the number of players, then place them on spaces on the blueprint table based on value and color. Each player drafts one die and uses it. Once everyone has drafted a die twice, all players get to use the remaining die on the blueprint table. After eight rounds, you score points for your progress in engineering, assembly, testing, and more. Whoever has the most points wins. Motor City has a solo mode in which you try to top your own score against an auditor that drafts dice and blocks areas of your sheet. In more detail, start with four ingredient cards in hand; ingredients range from 1-9, with each card also having a star, steal, or blossom icon. Four ingredient cards are in a face-up market. Each player has a secret "favorite" card, with four favorites in a face-up market; each favorite shows three cards that make up the dish they want, e.g., two medium (4-6) and a high (7-9), with the highest total possible. Sands of Dunestar takes us on a journey beyond the walls of Aegis to a nearby land of ancient mysteries. Dunestar is another major city in the Realm of Humans, home to a different culture than Aegis, more ancient and fierce in nature. Located on the banks of the Great River and surrounded by a scorching desert, Dunestar is an oasis where all doors close at nightfall, only to be reopened at dawn for fear of the dangers that haunt the darkness. For in Dunestar darkness is a literal source of the Blight, the endless material of tales as old as time itself that have led the inhabitants to surround the city with walls that can store the light of the sun during the day and keep it lit at night. From a distance and at any point in time, Dunestar appears like a mirage-like shimmering beacon, a symbol of hope as much as it is an easy-to-find target for the Blight. Speaking of the Blight, it manifests itself more visibly in Dunestar than in Aegis through black tendrils that can spread to all things, living or not, and the surrounding sands are now the tomb of many a warrior who have chosen to brave their fear and take the fight to the darkness itself. A witch named Hester was hung, burned, and buried under a tree. Some time later, the family of Hester come to Harrow County to destroy it, but standing in their way is eighteen-year-old Emmy who mysteriously has powers of her own. Shikoku
Shikoku is the smallest of the four main islands of Japan and famous for its 88 Buddhist temples pilgrimage. It is said people have a year of misfortune and woes — at the age of 42 for men and 33 for women — so to be cured and avoid bad luck, pilgrims of those ages attend the temple 23 called Yakuōji and place of the Buddha of healing, Yakushi Nyorai. In every step, pilgrims leave a coin while singing the Yakushi mantra, which favors them with spiritual healing and prevents misfortune. In Shikoku, players play the role of pilgrims who are going up the 33 steps while singing mantras until they reach the pagoda. However, the "Middle Path" seeks moderation, not the extremes: To be the first one, or the last, is not welcome! The winners will be those who are second or next to last on the steps when a player reaches the top. The game is played in rounds, each of them with three phases: Following the turn order of the mantra line, each player plays one card from their hand placing it in the mantra area along with their pilgrim. When all players had played a card, pilgrims will be moved on the board. Players whose cards are second counting from the left and second counting from the right, don't go up. The other players go up as many steps (ICONO) as the card with their pilgrim indicates. Move the mantra card (and its pilgrim) with the lower value from the first position to the last one of the mantra line. This will determine the turn order of the next round. The last player in the mantra line gets a new mantra card and other players take one of the cards (in turn order) that have been played during the previous round to have three cards in their hands. After the moving phase of a round, if one or more players reach the pagoda (square 33), the game ends and the player, or players, who are second counting from the top and second counting from the bottom, win the game.
