Terraforming Mars
In the 2400s, mankind begins to terraform the planet Mars. Giant corporations, sponsored by the World Government on Earth, initiate huge projects to raise the temperature, the oxygen level, and the ocean coverage until the environment is habitable. In Terraforming Mars, you play one of those corporations and work together in the terraforming process, but compete for getting victory points that are awarded not only for your contribution to the terraforming, but also for advancing human infrastructure throughout the solar system, and doing other commendable things. The players acquire unique project cards (from over two hundred different ones) by buying them to their hand. The projects (cards) can represent anything from introducing plant life or animals, hurling asteroids at the surface, building cities, to mining the moons of Jupiter and establishing greenhouse gas industries to heat up the atmosphere. The cards can give you immediate bonuses, as well as increasing your production of different resources. Many cards also have requirements and they become playable when the temperature, oxygen, or ocean coverage increases enough. Buying cards is costly, so there is a balance between buying cards (3 megacredits per card) and actually playing them (which can cost anything between 0 to 41 megacredits, depending on the project). Standard Projects are always available to complement your cards. Your basic income, as well as your basic score, is based on your Terraform Rating (starting at 20), which increases every time you raise one of the three global parameters. However, your income is complemented with your production, and you also get VPs from many other sources. Each player keeps track of their production and resources on their player boards, and the game uses six types of resources: MegaCredits, Steel, Titanium, Plants, Energy, and Heat. On the game board, you compete for the best places for your city tiles, ocean tiles, and greenery tiles. You also compete for different Milestones and Awards worth many VPs. Each round is called a generation (guess why) and consists of the following phases: 1) Player order shifts clockwise.2) Research phase: All players buy cards from four privately drawn.3) Action phase: Players take turns doing 1-2 actions from these options: Playing a card, claiming a Milestone, funding an Award, using a Standard project, converting plant into greenery tiles (and raising oxygen), converting heat into a temperature raise, and using the action of a card in play. The turn continues around the table (sometimes several laps) until all players have passed.4) Production phase: Players get resources according to their terraform rating and production parameters. When the three global parameters (temperature, oxygen, ocean) have all reached their goal, the terraforming is complete, and the game ends after that generation. Scythe: The Wind Gambit contains two modular expansions: airships and resolutions. The airship module was originally created and shared in the Scythe Facebook group by Kai Starck. Jamey read over the rules and was impressed both by what the airships added to the game and by the effort Kai had put into the expansion through writing the rules and playtesting it. So Kai, Jakub, and Jamey collaborated to hone the airship module.In the airship module, 2 airship tiles are randomly paired at the beginning of the game (1 passive and 2 aggressive; there are 16 total tiles). Each player's airship miniature (a new type of unit; 1 big miniature for each of the 7 factions [the sculpts are identical, and the bases are different colors to match the factions]) has those abilities, as well as the core ability that airships are free to move onto any territory (land or water) and across rivers. The first settlers arrived On Mars in the year 2037. In the decades after establishing Mars Base Camp, private exploration companies began creating a self-sustaining colony. As chief astronaut for one of these enterprises, you want to be a pioneer in developing the biggest, most advanced colony on Mars by achieving mission goals and your company's private agenda. The city was almost totally destroyed.Description:Lisboa is thus played, in part, on a representational map of the city. During the planning of the downtown re-building project, the type of businesses permitted in each street was pre-determined. The clockmakers and goldsmiths had their street; as did the bookstores and libraries; the tailors and silk vendors; and the toolmakers as well. This all comes into play on the Lisboa gameboard.Players represent the nobility of Lisboa who will use their influence in the reconstruction and business development of the new city.In rebuilding the city, players will make use of the Royal Builder, who works with the architects to build Lisboa anew, while the Marquis will provide aid in the development of commerce. It's a Wonderful World: War or Peace
This expansion is a campaign allowing players to live an adventure scripted in 5 scenarios which brings, collectively during the game, players to make choices that will tip the story towards Peace or World War. At the start of a game, players open an envelope containing the story, the special rules of the scenario and the extra cards for this scenario. Then, at the end of the game, each player receives different rewards depending on whether he won or lost and according to his own choices during the game (depending on the scenario). Thus, each one builds his Heritage over the 5 scenarios. The winner of the campaign is the one who wins the last scenario. The campaign offers 6 scenarios in all because there is a branch, depending on the choice of players in scenario 4. During the campaign and after the campaign, the players will unlock cards which can come to enrich the basic game definitively. The Heritage campaigns therefore offer players to live a story and gradually unlock a mini-extension to the base game offering a new mechanic, a bit like a Legacy, but totally replayable because there is no alteration of equipment. The campaign is also playable solo.
