Valley of the Serpent Kings is an exciting new entry point for players into the world of Shadows of Brimstone! This Adventure Set features a group of Spanish Conquistador Heroes setting out in the Age of Exploration, where Darkness fills the jungles and abandoned stone forts, and vicious Serpentmen raid the local villages and slither to war against humanity. With a full Narrative Campaign, and a host of new Enemies to fight, the Conquistadors build and customize their Expedition Camp along the way, allying with the Aztecs to stand against the might of the Serpentmen, and exploring shimmering gateways that lead back into the Valley of the Serpent Kings, deep within the murky swamps of Jargono.
This Age of Exploration-themed Shadows of Brimstone dungeon crawler can be played by 1-4 players on its own, but is also fully compatible with all other Shadows of Brimstone products.
It is the Age of Exploration, and Spanish voyages set out across the vast oceans, making landfall on the sandy shores of the New World. But these jungle islands and rocky coasts hold more than new trade opportunities and rumored riches. Local people tell tales of a magical Dark Stone and shimmering gateways that lead to another world, ruled by ruthless Serpentmen that have been raiding their villages! Allying with the Aztecs and constructing stone forts to defend against these creatures, the Conquistadors sent word back to Spain for reinforcements. But they did not know the Darkness that had already begun to spread within.
Shadows of Brimstone: Valley of the Serpent Kings is a fast-paced, Cooperative, dungeon-crawl boardgame set in the Age of Exploration and mixed with Unspeakable Horror! Each player creates a character, taking on the role of a classic Conquistador Archetype, such as El Capitan, Explorer, Duelist, or Soldier. They enter the deep jungles and dark halls of abandoned Spanish Forts, overrun with demonic shadows and raiding Serpentmen from another world. This Adventure Set includes an 8-part narrative story campaign, but that is only the beginning of your Heroes' expedition. Explore the lost Spanish Forts that have fallen into darkness, overcoming dangerous encounters and fighting ruthless creatures, while collecting useful Gear and ancient Artifacts to aid in your adventures.
With a robust campaign system, Hero characters can be kept from game to game, earning experience and going up in levels to increase their skills and gain new abilities. The Heroes can also build and customize their Expedition Camp between adventures, spending their hard-earned loot and re-supplying for the next mission.
So unfurl the sails, take up your sword, and strap on your armor, the Serpentmen are coming and the Darkness closes in, as you set out on an expedition deep into... the Valley of the Serpent Kings!
