Oceanos is a game of underwater exploration with an original take on card-drafting. Each player pilots her own submarine trying to spot the most underwater species and the largest coral reef, sending scuba-divers after forgotten treasures, collecting precious crystals to upgrade their ship and to escape the fearsome kraken's gaze...Each submarine is divided into five parts, each of them independently upgradable from level 1 to level 3 and each one of them controlling a different ability of the player (however, there are no different abilities from one player to another). As there are multiple ways to score points and multiple takes on the submarine-upgrading order, the game offers several ways to win. There’s gold in the Black Hills of South Dakota, and you’ve come to find (or steal) your share. You’re staying at one of the three major establishments in Deadwood where you and your associates are working together to steal some of the gold-filled safes floating around town. But you suspect that the “friends” you’re working with are secretly plotting to keep all the gold for themselves. Will you be ready to turn on them before they shoot you in the back? In Deadwood 1876, you use cards from your hand to try to win Safes from other players. Safes contain Badges, Gold, or Showdown Guns. Near the end of the game, players with Badges get extra turns. After the final turn, the team with the most Gold will advance to the Final Showdown. There, teammates will have to fight each other to the death using Showdown Guns. The last person alive is the winner! The game is a balance between teamwork and selfishness. If a player uses all of their best cards to hunt down Gold for their team, they’ll be defenseless to fight against their teammates if they go to the Final Showdown. But if a player only goes after Guns and saves all of their best cards, their team might not have enough Gold to actually reach the Final Showdown. If someone on your team doesn’t seem to be pulling their weight, they might be plotting to steal your gold after using you to get to the Finals! There may come a point where you need to gather Showdown Guns instead of Gold, or attack, mislead, frame, abandon, or banish your own teammates. The galaxy is organized into many coalitions that govern multiple solar systems and worlds. Your system wants to join one of these federations. Your fledgling empire is small, but that will not stop you. It is your job to impress the petty bureaucrats who control access to the Federation that your tiny government should be taken seriously. Becoming a full member would give you advantages over your rivals. But yours is not the only delegation that has set its sights on joining the Federation. So, the contest begins! You have 5 years to prove that you can be a productive member. During these 5 years, you must make the most of your opportunities to impress them. Sometimes you may be forced to work together with your rivals to provide funding for special projects. So, it can be helpful to make friends, but you must stay one step ahead of them. At the end of the 5 years, only one new member will be selected - the one with the most prestige! Federation is an interactive Eurogame with an innovative double-sided worker placement mechanic. Every time you place a worker, you must decide if that worker will vote in favor of legislation that helps your cause or provides funding for local improvement projects. Every action is critical. At the end of the year, the votes are counted, and whichever legislation becomes law offers points for the players who have the highest level of influence in that area. Players must keep an eye on each opponent to see the places where they are strong or weak. Making sure that the areas you specialize in will score at the end of the game is critical to your success.
