Wilds of Eldraine: A Fairytale Adventure in Magic: The Gathering
Wilds of Eldraine is the 97th Magic: The Gathering (MTG) expansion set and the first set in the 2023–2024 Standard rotation. It is set on the plane of Eldraine, a world of fairytales and magic. The set was releasing on September 8, 2023.
Wilds of Eldraine is a very different set from previous MTG sets. It features a unique fairytale theme, with cards that depict classic fairytale characters and creatures. The set also introduces a number of different mechanics, such as bringing back the Adventure and Food mechanics.

The Story - What we know so far
The storyline of Wilds of Eldraine is set on the plane of Eldraine, a world of fairytales and magic. The plane is home to a variety of creatures from classic fairytales, such as knights, princesses, and talking animals. The story begins with the arrival of two planeswalkers, Will Kenrith and Rowan Kenrith, who are on a quest to find the four powerful artifacts known as the Eldraine Crowns.
Along the way, the Kenrith twins encounter a variety of challenges, including a wicked witch, a giant troll, and a rampaging boar. They also meet a cast of colorful characters, such as the knight Sir Gawain, the princess Estrilda, and the talking fox Garruk Wildspeaker.
Eventually, the Kenrith twins succeed in finding the Eldraine Crowns and restoring order to the plane. However, their victory comes at a cost. The wicked witch, Ashiok, escapes and vows revenge. The Kenrith twins are also forced to make a difficult choice that will have a lasting impact on the plane of Eldraine.
The storyline of Wilds of Eldraine is a classic fairytale adventure with a modern twist. It is a story about good versus evil, courage, and the power of love.
The Adventure Mechanic
One of the most exciting new mechanics in Wilds of Eldraine is Adventure. Adventure cards have two parts: an Adventure spell and a creature spell. The Adventure spell can be cast for its mana cost, and it has a one-time effect. Once the Adventure spell resolves, it transforms into the creature spell, which can then be played for its mana cost.
Adventure cards are a great way to get extra value from your spells. You can cast the Adventure spell for its one-time effect, then transform it into a creature later in the game. This can be very useful for getting ahead on the board or for getting a surprise attack in.
The Food Mechanic
Another new mechanic in Wilds of Eldraine is Food. Food cards are artifacts that have the ability to create a Food token. Food tokens can be sacrificed to gain 3 life.
Food tokens are a great way to gain life or to sacrifice for other effects. They can be used to stabilize your life total or to fuel powerful abilities.
