Penny Dreadfuls of Victorian London: Sensational Tales of Terror
Penny Dreadfuls were short illustrated periodicals, very popular in the United Kingdom in the second half of the nineteenth century. They were very cheap booklets, costing just one copper penny and offering short stories with vivid and popular themes narrated with an emphatic and sensationalist style.Despite the low cultural value, Penny Dreadfuls gave birth to a genre that has constantly evolved to this day. In Penny Dreadfuls of Victorian London: Sensational Tales of Terror, 1 to 5 players will share bizarre and frightening tales masterfully narrated by our authors, set in gloomy Victorian London in the late 19th century, infamous for the mysterious serial murders in the neighborhoods of Whitechapel and Whitehall. In each Sensational Tale, specific Characters living in an ordinary Victorian world are suddenly embroiled in shocking events that catapult them out of reality and natural conventions. By joining them, players face a bizarre scenario, investigating, making deductions and choices, facing trials leading to unpleasant consequences or handsome rewards. Each game has a variable number of turns with different possible outcomes, ranging from miserable failure to utter and satisfying success, all depending on how the players interpret the story, sharing the fate of their Stars.

The Fox Experiment
In 1958, Demitri Belyaev and Lyudmila Trut started an experiment on domestication. From a large group of foxes, the selected the ones that reacted to humans with more curiosity and less aggression. In each generation, they selected only the friendliest pups to become parents - hoping to recreate the process that originally led to domestication thousands of years ago. In The Fox Experiment players will breed their own domesticated foxes over the course of the game. Each round represents one breeding generation, in which each player will select a pair of fox parents to breed. They will take dice according to the traits they have and roll them, attempting to make whole trait symbols to mark on their pup cards. These pups then go on to become parents in the next round! Be strategic in the foxes you choose to breed, because the right ones will help you finish studies and please your patrons to score points and win the game.

Alpujarras
During the great Arab Agricultural Revolution, hardworking farmers transformed the landscape of the Alpujarra into a world of bounty. With their innovative irrigation and terracing techniques, they brought water to the hillsides to create fertile farmlands. In this game, take on the role of a fruit farmer, diligently working to grow your crops and deliver them to the hillside villages. Life here is not easy, but with tenacity and dedication, you can live a rewarding life close to this wonderful land and all its beauty. Alpujarras is a turn-based game in which players move their mules around an action track outside the game board. The player who is furthest behind takes the turn and moves their mule to an action space to perform an action. Actions include: placing a farmer, moving a farmer, expanding an irrigation channel. By performing these different actions, you can grow fruit, which are delivered to the towns, where they are sold for dinars.

Quicksand
Quicksand is a real-time co-operative game in which players work together to deactivate the "Quicksand", a dangerous trap of gears and sand. You can't just race as quickly as possible, though, because you must avoid setting off the trap. To set up, choose one of the 20+ scenarios, then lay out the gear tiles in the specified path and place the appropriate sand timers — which have different amounts of sand in them — on the first gears of the path. (The path might have obstacles on it based on the particular scenario.) Gears feature both a color (orange, yellow, gray) and a shape (square, circle, crescent). Each player starts with a hand of three cards, with a card showing one of the three colors, one of the three shapes, or a sand timer. Once the game starts, players play a card in turn to try to advance the sand timers and keep them from running out, refilling their hand after they play. When you play a color or shape card, you flip all of the sand timers currently on this color/shape, advancing them one space on the path if that next space is empty. When you play a sand timer card, you flip any one timer, advancing it, if possible. (If no timers are on gears matching the played card, nothing happens.) If a sand timer runs out, flip it and place it next to the gear on which it was previously located. If someone plays a sand timer card, they can recover this timer by flipping and placing it back onto the gear — but only if that tile is empty. If a set-aside timer runs out again, players lose the game. Once a timer reaches the last open space on the path, played cards matching that gear's color/shape will flip it — and if it runs out, you lose the game with no chance of recovery. If the sand timers fill the final gear tiles on the path without this happening, you win!

Summit
Summit: The Board Game is a survival game which, thanks to its two-sided game board and variable mechanisms, can be played competitively, cooperatively or solo. In a competitive game, players race up and down the deadly mountain while managing their resources, building their path, overcoming obstacles, and attempting to survive their competition. Summit uses a unique karma system that allows players to actively help or hinder their opponents — but it also affects end game scoring. For a few extra points, you could share some of your valuable food or oxygen, or maybe you can afford to lose some points so you choose to cut their rope and watch them disappear down the mountain. In a cooperative or solo game, players must now work together to overcome the mountain and survive the expedition. Summit is a game so grueling you need only one team member to survive the ascent and descent, so players may sacrifice themselves for the good of the team. The mountain has a "Sherpa Track" and a "Time of Day Track" added, as well as a whole new deck of cards. It is unlikely everyone will be returning from this expedition. With over 190 unique cards, nearly 100 tiles, unique resource management and tracking on dual-layer asymmetrical player mats and the ability to customize your difficulty and game length, Summit guarantees you will never play the same game twice!

Sea Change
The deck contains 80 Sea cards in five suits. The five suits are represented by different colours and icons. Each suit has one card of each value; a higher card beats a lower card of the same suit — high (15) to low (0). Depending on the number of players, a set number of cards from a set number of suits will be shuffled together. Players can decide in advance to play as teams, or each player for themselves. Each player will be dealt 10 cards to create their hand. In a clockwise manner, each player will contribute one card, chosen from their hand, to create a trick. In each trick, one suit will be stronger than others (trump). Any card in this trump suit beats all cards not in the trump suit. A Sea Change will change the trump suit in the middle of a trick when a player matches the value of the last card played. Players attempt to win tricks containing cards with positive points, and avoid cards with negative points. *Important* During tricks, 0s are not worth any points. At the end of the round, check which suit is trump. The 0 from that suit, and only that suit, is now worth 5 points. All other 0s are not worth any points. The player with the highest score at the end of the round will earn 1 Victory Point (VP). The game ends when one player has earned 3 VPs.

Lewis And Clark: The Expedition (Second Edition)
On November 30, 1803, the United States purchased Louisiana from Napoleon. U.S. President Thomas Jefferson decided to send two explorers – Meriwether Lewis and William Clark – to discover this huge terra incognita. Lewis & Clark is a board game in which each player manages an expedition intended to cross the North American continent. Their goal is to be the first to reach the Pacific. Each one has his own Corps of Discovery that will be completed by the Native Americans and the trappers met during the journey. He has to cleverly manage his characters and also the resources he finds along the way. Beware, sometimes frugality is better than abundance. Lewis & Clark features dual use cards. To be activated, one card must be combined with another one, which becomes unavailable for a while. Thus, players are faced with a constant dilemma: play a card or sacrifice it. During the game, each player acquires character cards that enlarge his hand, building a crew that gives him more options but it needs to be optimized as he will recycle his cards more slowly. This new "handbuilding" mechanism fits strongly with the historical background. Since the aim of the game is to be the first on the Pacific coast, the timing and the opportunistic use of the other players' positions are crucial.

Block And Key
In Block and Key, adventurers place 3D clay blocks in a centralized raised playing area, with the goal of completing their own request cards. The challenge is made more interesting as each player is limited to their "2D" viewpoint. Each turn adventurers may either draw new blocks from the supply, or place ONE block into the shared space. They may then check to see if they have completed any request cards before filling their hand. The first adventure to complete the number of request cards required by the player count ends the game. Scores will be tallied and one player named the victor.

Blade Rondo
Blade Rondo is a card battle game from Domina Games for one or two players. The game distinguishes itself from other card battle games in several ways. One is the way decks are built - out of the forty "key cards", each player is dealt fifteen and has to choose just seven to use during the match. Stronger cards tend to be single-use, meaning you need to balance longevity and power when making your choices. Additionally the small card set means you can make assumptions about what your opponent might have, though without total certainty. The game's solo mode isn't just tacked on - 20 cards are included just for use in solo play, and allow you to enjoy the game by yourself. Pawn, the designer, is well known for his previous solo-only releases such as Shephy.

Septima
Only in a few corners of the world is the memory of magic still alive, even though a few centuries ago its healing power permeated everything. Witches, its last remaining practitioners, have always been outcasts and could help human society only in strict secrecy. The leader of their people, the Septima, has always been the wisest, most knowledgeable witch. Now, as her time is coming to an end, witches from all over the world gather at Noctenburg to leave their mark on the hostile town and prove to the Septima that they are her worthy successor. Septima is a competitive, highly interactive strategy game of witchcraft. As the leader of your coven, you must prove your worth in the town of Noctenburg to become the successor of Septima, the High Witch. Practice your craft and gain Wisdom by collecting herbs, brewing potions, healing the townsfolk, mastering charms and rescuing your fellow brothers and sisters from the trials. But beware: magic, even if used for good, invokes suspicion in the townsfolk... Simultaneous action selection with positive player interaction: Septima’s central mechanism revolves around the simultaneous, secret selection of one of nine Action cards each turn: Move, Collect, Brew, Heal, Recruit, Plea, Chant, Rite and Remember. Each Action gets a powerful bonus if it is chosen by multiple players, but performing them together also raises suspicion in the townsfolk and attracts the attention of the Witch Hunters. Decisions of when to do a shared action (and who to do it with) adds a fresh, semi-cooperative touch to a competitive game, and lots of player interaction. Rescue witches to build your Coven: Heal, enthrall or convince the townsfolk and amass enough support to sway the periodic Witch Trials in your favor. If the hostile witnesses are outvoted, the convicted witch is absolved and joins the coven that rescued them. You start small but you can grow your coven to up to four witches this way, each with their own personality and special ability to help your cause. Reckless Witches caught by Witch Hunters are also put to trial, so with enough support from the townsfolk, even witches from other, less careful players’ coven can end up in yours. Accessible, intuitive and familiar: Septima is Mindclash Games’ most accessible title to date, with beautiful, hand-drawn art style by Villő Farkas and with the character art of Barbara Bernát, wooden components and intuitive, theme-inspired mechanisms. It is very quick to teach and set up, and takes less than 2 hours to play, even with four players.

Shaolia: Great Houses
Shaolia: Great Houses is an expansion to Shaolia: Warring States which brings not only new cards, but also new mechanics and game modes to give the players more options in pursuing their paths to victory. The expansion introduces the titular Great Houses. There is also a solo mode new to Shaolia which introduces a Boss for the player to battle. A game of Great Houses proceeds much the same as one of Warring States, but with the addition of the Noble House tiles and Quest cards. These two new components work in tandem. Noble House TilesThese tiles can be purchased during the purchase phase of the game. The currency to purchase them are Quest cards that players have earned in the game. After a Noble House tile has been purchased, it is immediately replaced by another from the deck. Noble House tiles are placed near the player’s territory board, and function the same as Level 1 & 2 cards, with one important exception: They cannot be attacked, blocked, or destroyed, so a player will benefit from their abilities until the end of the game. Quest CardsIf a player completes the requirement listed on a Quest card during their turn, they get to take the quest card into their hands. Another Quest card from the deck is immediately drawn to replace the one taken. As mentioned previously, Quest cards can be used to purchase Noble House tiles. Alternately, you may sell one a Quest card for 2 gold. There are two types of Quest cards: ones that are immediately achieved by meeting their requirements, and ones with 2–3 open slots that require players to repeat the action listed on the card that many times before they complete the quest. Cards with these repeating quests can only be completed by whoever does the action first, claiming it with one of their quest trackers. A game of Shaolia: Great Houses ends the same turn that someone either gains 18 culture, or does 12 damage to their opponent’s palace. Additionally, there will be that previously-mentioned third victory path achieved through completing quests.

In Dreams
In Dreams is a slightly surreal storytelling game for one, which uses vivid imagery and evocative prompts to immerse you in a dreamworld you wouldn’t have otherwise imagined. In this storytelling solo game, the player writes a story in which a character in a dreamworld must complete a specific goal before waking. The player begins by drawing cards to create a randomized character with a starting temperament. Card draws will also determine the goal the character must achieve by the dream's end in order for the player to win. Storytelling then begins by drawings cards to create an Encounter. An Encounter consists of 2-4 short prompts as well as a location. All Encounter cards include surreal artwork to help inspire fresh and creative interpretations each game. The player must immediately write about the generated Encounter, including all of the prompts and the location while attempting to move the character closer to their goal. Some Encounters will prompt the player to generate an Event. Two cards from the Event deck will determine what is happening as well as the tone. These cards too include surreal artwork for inspiration. Events are resolved in the same manner as Encounters. The game continues, with the player drawing and resolving Encounters and Events through storytelling until the character's goal is met.
