In light of the ongoing worker strike at Acrylicos Vallejo, we are taking a stand in alignment with our company’s Code of Conduct, which emphasizes ethical practices, fairness, and a commitment to the greater good.
At Gamers Guild, we believe leadership is defined not by the choices made in times of ease, but by the decisions forged in moments of challenge. In light of the ongoing worker strike at Acrylicos Vallejo, we are taking a stand in alignment with our company’s Code of Conduct, which emphasizes ethical practices, fairness, and a commitment to the greater good.
Why We Are Taking Action
Recent reports from Vallejo’s factory in Catalonia, Spain, highlight troubling working conditions and inequities. Workers are advocating for fair wages, improved safety measures, and more ethical treatment, shedding light on critical issues, including:
Wages stagnating at the Spanish minimum wage despite a 50% increase in the national minimum wage since 2018.
Unsafe working conditions, with claims of outdated, poorly maintained equipment and parts of the factory being in “deplorable” states.
While striking workers have not explicitly called for a boycott, they have noted that choosing not to purchase Vallejo products could help pressure the company to address these issues and other artist guilds and unions throughout the EU HAVE called for a boycott.
Effective immediately, we are halting all restocks and sales of Vallejo products in our stores and online. This decision was not made lightly. Vallejo products have been a staple in our community, and we understand this may cause inconvenience to our customers. However, we believe that supporting the workers in their pursuit of fair treatment is the right thing to do.
By pausing these sales, we aim to:
Stand in solidarity with Vallejo’s workers.
Draw attention to their cause and inspire others to take meaningful action.
Uphold our belief that doing what’s right outweighs the potential financial losses.
Leadership in Action
Our leadership team has been unanimous in this decision. As our CEO stated, “I believe that doing the right thing when it’s hard is the highest form of leadership and culture a company and CEO can aspire to.” This is not just about standing by our principles—it’s about fostering a culture of empathy, accountability, and ethical responsibility.
We will communicate this decision openly and transparently with our community, both in-store and online, and provide resources for those who want to learn more about the workers’ cause.
Looking Ahead
We remain hopeful for a swift and fair resolution to this situation. Vallejo’s products have long been beloved by our staff and customers alike, and we look forward to the day we can resume supporting their business, knowing that its workers are treated with dignity and respect.
A Request for Understanding
We ask for your understanding and support as we take this stand. While this decision may inconvenience some, we hope our community will see the value in standing together for what’s right. By prioritizing people over profits, we set an example for a better, fairer future—not just for Vallejo’s workers but for all workers around the world.
Let’s amplify this message together. If you’d like to learn more about the strike or support the cause, please visit the resources available in-store or contact our team.
Thank you for being a part of a community that values integrity, fairness, and compassion. Together, we can inspire change.
