During play, you’ll explore the timeline of someone who has died (called the Departed) in order to gain gradual insight into their world, their identity, and their history. Their life is a story that starts at the end, then jumps freely backward and forward to their most important moments. As you create their story, you’ll discover who this person was and what made them special. Explore the life of……a devoted grandmother whose dream of owning her own restaurant came true……a bold captain who married her archrival and became the most infamous pirate in the Viridian Isles……a sensitive soldier in the trenches who didn’t make it home alive……an arrogant wizard who strove to unlock ancient secrets and found more than he bargained for……or anyone else you can imagine. No matter who you create, you’ll come to know them as a unique individual whose life was messy, complicated, and beautiful. Epitaph is GMless and requires no prep before play—just grab your friends around a table or via video chat, open the book, and start creating. The game features a variable level of role-playing commitment: on your turn you can describe a moment in time, create and play a scene with others, or give an interactive monologue as one of the characters from the story. The tone of the game is up to the players—it can be anything from lighthearted and goofy to bittersweet and tragic. Epitaph puts you inside the mind of a very ordinary person and leaves you feeling like you knew them.

A tabletop roleplaying game about ghosts in a strange spooky found family. Tell stories that can be scary, hopeful, horrifying, or comforting.The setting is just as important as the characters you’ll play. Describe what sweet and creepy things happen in a room of the mansion that belongs to you. There are several Rooms for you to choose from and The Haunt comes alive as we explore the themes and moods of each Room. The main characters spend time together, hide from the Living, will scare or be scared, and explore the liminal space between life and death. THE CHARACTERS The Loved, who remains in this world hoping to find their lost love — or at least, honor their memory. The Betrayed, murdered by violent means, trapped as a ghost until they get revenge. The Faceless, who died so long ago they can barely remember their true form. The Returned, who has seen the worlds beyond death and is here to spread the word. The Doll, trapped inside the body of a doll and unable to express their true self. The Cat, or the ghost of a cat, wandering these halls among these strange humans. Once we’ve made our characters, we’ll develop the haunted house we live in before exploring the strange and creepy world that exists around us. While we play, we’ll discover memories of our past, tussle with the living, dodge the ancient monstrosities that lurk beyond the veil, and support each other in a strange and liminal half-world.
